What is ‘Student Voices’?

While many can read and learn about Rapa Nui’s intriguing archaeology and majestic moai statues, not much is known about the island’s student population. As a result, Student Voices was created with the intention of providing our English language (EL) learners with a safe, productive, academically-oriented online platform where their ideas are published and a discussion forum centered around important issues is generated.
As such, Student Voices aims to be a supportive space allowing for EL learners to strengthen writing skills, build self-confidence, and engage in productive conversation. In addition, this online tool is designed to support critical thinking skills and teach the importance of forming educated, informed opinions.
As educators, we work diligently to create outlets and opportunities for our students to connect with individuals from other countries and cultures. Thus, it is our hope that this online platform acts as a bridge between the island’s students and the international community and whereby positive rapport and constructive feedback is established.
We hope you enjoy these student-written articles, and we welcome all comments that support critical thinking, self-reflection, awareness, and academic growth.
Thank you, in advance, for reading and for commenting!
Sincerely,
Our Team of Educators, The English Academy Rapa Nui
