During these 2 years at The English Academy Rapa Nui, we have had Zoom conversational classes with students at Rosmini College in Auckland, New Zealand. The objective of these classes have been to have real conversations with native English speakers about climate change.
Hector Molina: “My Experience Speaking with Peers About Climate Change”

In my experience, it has been quite interesting and entertaining since, until then, I had never spoken with a native English speaker. In the first class, I was a little nervous and I got quite stuck but after almost 2 years now, I don’t feel nervous anymore. I am more confident with what I want to say and how to say it. Thanks to this experience, I have been able to improve my English and my personality by talking to native speakers.
As the Zoom conversations progressed, I was improving, not only in my pronunciation, but I was also improving my personality. I became more expressive while I spoke with other students. I was meeting new people, learning about their interests, and about their culture and lifestyle.
In terms of my constructive opinion and comments about these Zoom conversational classes, I would say that I would like if the conversations were with more people. Also, I think it would be interesting to also talk about other things, like artificial intelligence, problems in other countries, deforestation, etc. All of this would make class even more interesting and entertaining.
In conclusion, the conversation with our New Zealand colleagues has helped me to improve my English and my personality.
