COMMUNITY SERVICE: Volunteer Tutoring Program
As part of our commitment to serving the local community, in April 2022, we began our COMMUNITY SERVICE: Volunteer Tutoring Program. The intention of this community service initiative is to open our doors and welcome, free of charge, any and all students interested in learning English.
Last year, we had Miss Rocio Arriagada as the volunteer tutor and this year we have Miss Neru Tuki. Miss Arriagada’s teaching style and effective classroom management were incredibly successful and all of her students continue studying English at our Academy. This year, we are thrilled to have Miss Tuki take over. Miss Tuki, a native of Rapa Nui and professional tour guide, is an incredible asset to our students as she is an advanced English speaker with extensive knowledge about the Rapa Nui culture. As such, she will serve as an incredibly positive role model to our students.

Business Communications & Entrepreneurial Training
Specialized 3-month course in addition to a workshop series taught by Trista Schoonmaker of COPIA Coaching & Consulting.
The English Academy Rapa Nui in collaboration with Trista Schoonmaker, co-owner of COPIA Coaching & Consulting, was thrilled to offer an array of Courses and workshops aimed at Intermediate and Advanced English language speakers and the development of their leadership, communication and collaboration skills.
The objective of these courses and workshops was to promote, motivate and foster personal and professional growth, both for the local adult community of professionals, as well as for high school youth focused on pursuing higher education abroad. Ms. Schoonmaker, an expert businesswoman, leader and entrepreneur based in Virginia, USA, taught these courses and workshops here in Rapa Nui during the first semester of the 2020 academic year.
A variety of scholarships were offered to encourage participation and to help lower economic barriers, thus making education available to as many individuals as possible within our community. We were truly grateful for this opportunity of continued growth here in Rapa Nui and hope to repeat these personalized courses and workshops designed, taught and led by Trista Schoonmaker of COPIA Coaching & Consulting (www.copiacommunity.com)

USA University Educational Tour
Postponed until further notice due to health and travel concerns. In light of recent health and travel concerns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our yearly USA University Educational Tour will be postponed until the absolute safety of our students may be guaranteed. This year, The English Academy Rapa Nui was delighted to be including a total of 15 students (between the ages of 14 and 50) in this 4-week travel abroad experience to the United States of America. We are planning to reschedule our trip when the timing is appropriate for Miss Schoonmaker and her students.
